MP against more Assembly powers following referendum

Monmouth MP David Davies has welcomed the result of the Scottish referendum but expressed concerns that it could lead to large amounts of extra powers being given to the Welsh Assembly.

David praises moves to support local pubs

David has welcomed announcements in the Budget to support pubs across Monmouthshire.David was a firm supporter of the Call Time on Duty Campaign and wrote on behalf of all pub landlords in the constituency to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, calling on him to abolish the Alcohol Duty Escalator and take other measures to help pubs.

DAVID SPEAKS OUT AGAINST FGM

Conservative MP for Monmouth, David Davies, pledged his full support for the campaign to end FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) started by Fahma Mohamed. Over the past 8 years David has spoken out on the issue in Parliament and used the Freedom of Information Act to get information from the Metropolitan police on the number of arrests and investigations which have been carried out into this crime.

David rails against poor public services during Prime Minister's Questions

MONMOUTH MP David Davies has spoken out against the decline in public services in Wales during Prime Minister’s Questions.Mr Davies highlighted the Welsh Government’s poor record on healthcare and education to the Prime Minister David Cameron after the leader of the opposition Ed Miliband recently said there were lessons to be learned from the performance of the Labour-run administration in Wales.

MONMOUTH MP SIGNS 2014 HOLOCAUST BOOK OF COMMITMENT

On Wednesday this week, Monmouth MP David Davies MP recognised the importance of Holocaust Memorial Day, by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET) book of commitment in the House of Commons.

MONMOUTH MP SPEAKS IN WELFARE REFORM DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT

On Monday 13thJanuary 2014, the Conservative MP for Monmouth, David T C Davies spoke in a debate on welfare reform. David made the point whilst undoubtedly people were genuinely suffering due to the reforms, there needed to be cuts made to welfare spending to recover from the economic mess left by the previous Labour Government.David highlighted in order to remove the perverse incentive that can make it better to be on benefits then on low paid work it was a priority to reform the Welfare State.

MONMOUTHSHIRE SCHOOLS CHANCE TO SHINE

Monmouth MP, David T C Davies is urging schools to enter a competition called the Speaker’s Council Awards run by the Speaker of the House of Commons, which will recognise schools who have had the most impact on their local communities.
