PUPILS at Llanvair Kilgeddin Primary School have been presented with a souvenir to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne.
Llanover Community Council provided bilingual Diamond Jubilee commemorative mugs for every youngster at the school.
The china mementos, which feature references to Her Majesty’s accession on 6th February 1952 and coronation on 2nd June 1953, were officially handed over by Monmouth MP David Davies and Community Council chair Christian Brown.
“Llanover Community Council wanted to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee in this special way and hopefully the presentation of these mugs will make it an occasion that the children will have fond memories of in years to come,” said Mr Brown.
Mr Davies added: “2012 is a historic time in the history of the British monarchy and I would like to thank the Community Council for their extremely kind gesture, which I’m sure will be a lasting reminder for all of the children of this wonderful celebration.”
