MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD ON THE WELSH NHS

 For a number of years I have been campaigning about the state of the NHS in Wales.People in Monmouthshire have also been stopped by the Welsh Government from getting treatment in England. I believe this state of affairs is unacceptable and have spoken out about this a number of times including in Parliament and in my last e-newsletter here.

DAVID SPEAKS OUT AGAINST FGM

Conservative MP for Monmouth, David Davies, pledged his full support for the campaign to end FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) started by Fahma Mohamed. Over the past 8 years David has spoken out on the issue in Parliament and used the Freedom of Information Act to get information from the Metropolitan police on the number of arrests and investigations which have been carried out into this crime.

David rails against poor public services during Prime Minister's Questions

MONMOUTH MP David Davies has spoken out against the decline in public services in Wales during Prime Minister’s Questions.Mr Davies highlighted the Welsh Government’s poor record on healthcare and education to the Prime Minister David Cameron after the leader of the opposition Ed Miliband recently said there were lessons to be learned from the performance of the Labour-run administration in Wales.

MONMOUTH MP SPEAKS OUT ON WELSH EDUCATION SYSTEM’S APPALLING PISA RESULTS

On Monday the Conservative MP for Monmouth, David T C Davies MP, spoke out against the appalling PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) results for the Welsh education system.The study showed an education system in crisis after years of mismanagement by the Welsh Labour Government. The PISA results ranked Wales as 36th for Science, 41st for reading and 43rd for Maths out of the 64 countries who have participated in the study, trailing far behind all their UK counterparts.  Welsh Education Minister, Huw Lewis, admitted on Boxing Day that the findings of the PISA study were unacceptable and apologised to school pupils in Wales.

UK Government has increased funding admits Minister responsible for council cuts

Welsh Assembly Minister for Finance, Jane Hutt, has admitted that the Welsh Assembly Government has been receiving extra money from the UK government ‘in cash terms’ since 2008. The Minister was responding to a letter from local MP David Davies who is questioning why the Assembly Government are imposing a 4.4 % cut in the funding given to Monmouthshire Council.
