A NEW express bus service linking Monmouth to Newport will be launched next month by Newport Transport.
The X25 service, stopping at Raglan and Usk, will begin on Monday, December 5, will stop at the city's bus and railway stations, and is intended to give commuters living in the three Monmouthshire towns a viable opportunity to switch to public transport to get to and from work.
Fares begin from £3, with weekly and monthly passes available that give users unlimited travel on all other Newport Transport services, including buses to Cardiff and Cwmbran.
The introduction of the service is backed by Monmouth MP David Davies and follows a public consultation exercise.
""The feedback I have received from commuters, shoppers and residents suggests it will be well supported. However, it is worth remembering that this service is not being subsidised so it is very much a case of use it or lose it,"" he said.
