MONMOUTH MP David Davies has spoken of his unease at rumours that Monmouthshire County Council is considering imposing charges for Sunday parking throughout the county.
Speaking from his constituency office in Usk, Mr Davies said: “I have been contacted by several constituents with their fears that Sunday parking charges may soon be introduced.
""It has been pointed out to me that having to pay to park will put off potential visitors at the time when local businesses in the main towns need every customer they can get. Also I’m concerned that churchgoers who are often pensioners on a fixed income will be forced to pay to attend places of worship at a time when car parks are usually pretty much empty.
“I have written to Monmouthshire County Council asking them to take my comments into consideration and respectfully suggesting they think long and hard before making any changes"".
