PUPILS at Trellech Primary School enjoyed a visit from Monmouth MP David Davies earlier this month to find out more about the workings of Parliament.
Mr Davies was invited to come and talk to the children to explain his role in the democratic process. He gave his popular ‘A Day in the Life’ presentation, before taking part in a lively question and answer session with Year 6 students.
Afterwards, he met staff and was given a tour of the school where work, achievements and innovative approaches to learning were showcased.
“It was an absolute pleasure to spend time at Trellech Primary School and see at first hand some of the fantastic things they are doing,” said Mr Davies.
“The children asked lots of intelligent questions and relished the chance to impart their own advice, which certainly gave me food for thought!”
Headteacher Steve King added: “It was great to welcome David to our school. We make a big deal of the annual election process for our school council and the children were fascinated by making the link between their experiences and the person who was elected to represent their views and issues in Parliament.”
