Monmouth MP David Davies and County Councillor David Dovey recently visited the Ruffets development in Chepstow. The controversial development which was initially turned down by Monmouthshire County Council was given the go ahead by The Welsh Assembly planning inspector on appeal.
They met residents and heard of the anger over noise and dust levels affecting nearby residents, and then met with the developers to thrash out the problems.
Speaking to the Free Press David said “this development has been contentious from the start, there were many objections and permission was only granted on appeal. Along with my colleague Cllr David Dovey I have met with the residents and the developer and sought answers to the residents concerns”
“I’m told the development is now in its third stage and is due to be finished by the end of this year. Unfortunately stone crushing will go on for another two weeks so the accompanying noise and dust problems should cease from then on. There are questions over the proposed adoption of the sewer system, Welsh Water will not adopt until the development is completed at which time there will be negotiations between the developer and the water company”
“It’s in everybody’s interest that this development is completed as soon as possible. The whole thing has been extremely difficult for all concerned, the sooner works are completed the better for everyone”
