MONMOUTH MP David Davies is urging local communities to nominate their rural heroes as part of the sixth annual Countryside Alliance Awards.
Nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars’, the Awards are the chance for the countryside to make its voice heard on a national stage. They celebrate people going the extra mile to ensure that rural Britain’s food and farming industry, small businesses and forward-thinking enterprises can flourish.
Mr Davies said: “These Awards are an excellent way to promote the local businessmen and women who are working hard to keep rural Britain ticking.
“Our local produce here in Monmouthshire is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition, so please get involved and nominate today. Let’s see if we can bring a British title home.”
The Awards run across eight categories, including local food award, village shop/Post Office award, butcher award and enterprise award.
Nominations are open online at www.countrysideallianceawards.co.uk until Friday, 22nd October 2010. Regional winners will be announced early next year.
