DAVID Davies MP was the guest speaker at the Diocese of Monmouth Mothers’ Union Spring Council meeting recently.
More than 50 people were present at the St John The Baptist Church Hall in Risca, Newport, to hear Mr Davies deliver his popular ‘A Day in the Life’ talk – a behind the scenes look at the Houses of Parliament and the life of an MP. Afterwards, he took part in a lively question and answer session.
Mr Davies said: “I thoroughly enjoy giving these talks. Not only are they a great way to meet constituents, they help give people a better idea of what I do when I’m in Westminster both in my role as a backbench MP and Chair of the Welsh Affairs Committee.
“I’m also very aware of the recent bad publicly surrounding Members of Parliament and I’m anxious to correct some of the more fanciful newspaper reports.
“My ‘A Day in the Life’ talk seems to have been well received across the constituency and I would be more than happy to come and speak to any local groups or organisations”.
Diocesan Publicity Officer, Shelley Miller, added: “Members very much enjoyed the question and answer session, especially raising further awareness of the Mothers’ Union’s Bye Buy Baby campaign whereby our Chief Executive has been invited by the Prime Minister to join a select committee to help tackle the problem of the commercialisation and sexualisation of childhood”.
