MONMOUTH MP David Davies was one of the keynote speakers at the start of a four-day event aiming to boost local business and entrepreneurship.
Attending the opening ceremonial day of Back2Business week at Chepstow Racecourse on Monday (6th June), Mr Davies sent out a clear message to the enterprise community that Monmouthshire is open for business.
“You can always find people who have spent their entire lives living and working in London waiting for the day when they could retire and move to a place like Monmouthshire,” he said.
“The message we should be sending out today is that you don’t have to wait until you are in your 60s. We have good road and rail links with London and the Midlands, we have fantastic housing in a beautiful area, we have excellent schools and we have low rates of crime and anti-social behaviour.
“I spend most of the week in London but I would never dream of living there or moving my family there”.
Mr Davies added that one of his priorities as Chair of the Welsh Affairs Committee was to look at “how we can help” the Welsh economy. He also said there was a great deal more that could be done at a national level to support businesses.
