David Davies MP has welcomed news that flashing school signs are finally set to be installed on the A40 in Monmouth.
Welsh Government Minister Edwina Hart AM confirmed in a letter to Mr Davies that work is underway to put up flashing warning signs for Agincourt School on the southbound approach to Dixton roundabout.
The scheme is scheduled for completion by the end of April.
“My concerns with highway safety on what I consider to be a dangerous roundabout are well documented and this is an issue I have repeatedly raised with the Welsh Government over the years,” said Mr Davies.
“It has taken a long time to get agreement for flashing school signs and the Minister’s written confirmation that they are finally being installed is very good news indeed.
“I hope all those entering the roundabout from Dixton Road, especially parents who are crossing straight over to the school, will feel safer.
“However, I won’t be celebrating properly until the scheme has been completed in full and is up and running.”
