Monmouth MP David Davies raised the issue of business rates during Prime Minister’s Questions today.
He backed calls by Monmouthshire County Council leader Peter Fox OBE for the Welsh Labour Government to commit to spending the extra £200m it was given in the Budget on supporting Welsh businesses hit by crippling hikes in rates.
The same level of financial support should be available in Wales that is being provided to businesses in England, said Mr Davies.
Prime Minister Theresa May said the Welsh Government would be able to use its £200m Budget boost to “support their own priorities.”
“But the people of Wales can send a very clear signal about these priorities by voting for Conservative councillors like Peter Fox (in local government elections) on 4 May,” she added.
