David Davies, MP for Monmouth, is so appalled that Brachytherapy, a treatment for Prostate Cancer, has been withdrawn for patients living in Wales that he is starting a campaign to have it reinstated.
The treatment, readily available for patients in England, replaces the need for hormone injections and radiotherapy giving the patient a much better quality of life whilst receiving treatment.
Mr Davies said: “I have spoken to families affected by Prostate Cancer and cannot understand why Brachytherapy has been withdrawn from Wales, when it is a much more suitable treatment for some patients and doesn’t involve radiotherapy which can have many side effects, making it a more rapid, more comfortable, more successful and more dignified outcome for the patient.
""I am urging the Welsh Assembly to change its decision and reinstate the therapy, especially at a time when diagnosis for Prostate Cancer is on the rise”
