MONMOUTH MP David Davies has hit out at First Great Western after it emerged the rail operator plans to slash early morning services through the Severn Tunnel Junction. Mr Davies said he was ‘extremely concerned’ to hear about the proposals, which could see four out of five morning commuter trains axed. “This is completely unacceptable for many of my constituents who work in Bristol,” he said. “Those in Chepstow now face the choice of a longer bus journey or using their cars, while commuters from further north in the constituency will have no other choice than to drive. “At a time when commuters are being urged to use public transport, and given the already early morning congestion on the M4, I find this decision astonishing. “I have therefore written to Andrew Davies AM, the Welsh Assembly’s Transport Minister, urging him to take positive and immediate action to prevent this appalling situation.”
