MONMOUTH MP David Davies spoke with leading disability experts in the House of Commons this week about issues affecting the lives of disabled constituents.
Mr Davies attended a parliamentary reception held by leading disabled charity Leonard Cheshire on Wednesday (16th May). The charity has over 150 services in the UK tailored to individual needs, including Llanhennock Cheshire Home near Usk, and also campaigns for the rights of disabled people at a local and national level.
At the reception, Mr Davies met with local Leonard Cheshire representatives and spoke to disabled campaigners from the charity’s local ‘Campaigns Action Groups’ about the everyday issues they face.
“I was delighted to have the opportunity to hear first hand about issues affecting disabled people, including my constituents,” said Mr Davies.
“I will be keeping in close contact with disabled people and staff from local Leonard Cheshire services so I can listen and respond to their issues as they arise”.
Leonard Cheshire’s Campaigns Coordinator, Lee Webster, said: “We are campaigning with disabled people at a national and constituency level to make sure their views, interests and concerns are taken seriously. Local campaigns are key to the charity’s work against disabled poverty and social exclusion and support from MPs is crucial in that work”.
