Monmouth MP, David T C Davies is urging schools to enter a competition called the Speaker’s Council Awards run by the Speaker of the House of Commons, which will recognise schools who have had the most impact on their local communities.
Mr Davies said “The Speaker is running a scheme to reward schools who have benefited their local communities. I know from my many visits to schools in Monmouthshire, how involved teachers and pupils are in their community, through taking part in local initiatives and charitable projects. I will be writing to all schools in the area urging parents and teachers to enter their school in the contest, so that schools in Monmouthshire have the chance to be nationally recognised for the great work they do in the community.”
The deadline for entering the Speaker’s Council Awards is the 30th April 2014. More information about the competition can be found here http://www.parliament.uk/education/outreach-in-your-school/competitions-and-awards/school-council-awards/ and here https://www.speakersschoolcouncil.org/ .
