Monmouth MP David Davies has welcomed the news that the Health Board have now arranged a Covid Booster clinic for the over 75s in Monmouth.
Elderly people in the town, many of them too old to drive, were being forced to travel to Pontypool for vaccinations. Local campaigner Richard Kimberley recently met the MP to ask for support in getting the Health Board to offer the jab more locally.
Mr Davies said:
“I have been in touch with the Health Minister and the Health Board. Clearly it is completely unfair to expect elderly people, many of them dependent on public transport, to get all the way down to Pontypool.”
Richard has done an excellent job in raising this issue and ensuring that the voices of elderly people living in Monmouth are properly heard.
The walk-in clinic this week is a good step forward, but I am concerned that not much notice was given and some people may not have been aware of it. The Health Board need to be ready to put on further clinics to ensure that everyone is reached.”
