""I recently saw a copy of the Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust's Strategic Change and Efficiency Plan, which proposes a range of drastic money-saving measures, including axing up to 80 medical secretarial jobs, and I am gravely concerned.
This is an incredibly worrying report, which suggests that all the money that has been poured into the NHS in Wales has been completely wasted.
Medical secretaries provide a crucial role in healthcare as they are a vital link between doctors and patients and I fear these proposals could seriously affect patient care. I understand there are also plans to increase car parking charges, introduce staff salary sacrifice schemes, and even rent out space for mobile phone aerials in a bid to save money. I will be meeting with the Chairman of Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust shortly to discuss this further and I will certainly be making my concerns know"". David T C Davies MP
