Monmouth MP David Davies visited his local William Hill shop in Abergavenny today to show support for the Bobby Moore Fund's Football Shirt Friday initiative.
Football Shirt Friday saw people up and down the country donate £2 to wear their favourite football shirt.
William Hill, which is proudly sponsoring and taking part in Football Shirt Friday for the second year running, provided a £50 charity bet to raise further funds for the Bobby Moore Fund. All winnings will go towards clinical trials and research into bowel cancer.
Mr Davies placed his bet on Wales to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. William Hill will honour the stake if the bet is unsuccessful.
The company is using its UK-wide network of offices and shops to educate customers and colleagues on the risks of bowel cancer, which kills 44 people every day in the UK.
"As a very proud footballing dad, I am delighted to support the Bobby Moore Fund in its fight to beat bowel cancer," said Mr Davies.
"Although my office is united politically, there are some divisions when it comes to football so I was pleased to pull on a Wales shirt and back the boys in their World Cup qualifying campaign rather than risk arguments over club teams!”
