David Davies, Member of Parliament for Monmouth, last week spent a high-octane day with the Monmouth Ambulance Service, discussing their vital role in the constituency and sitting in on their quick responses to emergency calls.
During the day, as David zoomed between the Monmouth Ambulance Station and Nevill Hall Hospital, he was briefed in detail on the properties of the Automatic Cardiac Defibrillator (ACD), an instrument which can hugely aid paramedics as they fight to save lives.
Speaking from Monmouth today, David said, “Long gone are the days when ambulance drivers used to just transport people from their homes to local hospitals. The ambulance crew I spent time with today were highly professional, extremely hard-working and totally dedicated to their jobs.
“I was fascinated to see the ACD machines, which can save paramedics precious moments in situations where every second counts. These machines are being used across the UK and I believe that they would have a huge impact on the local ambulance service and should be supplied with all due speed. I will therefore by writing to the Welsh Health Minister to determine his policy on the matter and back the bid to receive sufficient funding so that they can be used across the constituency.
“The ambulance services perform an absolute vital service and they deserve all the support they can get.”
