With nominations now open for the twelfth annual Countryside Alliance Awards, Monmouth MP David Davies is urging local communities to get involved.
Dubbed the ‘Rural Oscars’, the awards are the chance for the countryside to make its voice heard on a national stage.
They celebrate and honour people who routinely go the extra mile to ensure that rural Britain’s food and farming industry, small businesses, traditional skills, heritage and forward-thinking enterprises can flourish.
Categories up for grabs include the Local Food Award, Village Shop/Post Office Award, Farm Enterprise Award and Rural Tourism Enterprise Award.
Mr Davies said: “These awards are an excellent way to promote the local businessmen and women who are working hard to keep rural Britain thriving.
“Our local produce is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition, so please get involved and nominate today.
“Let’s see if we can bring a British title home and tell a positive story about Monmouthshire.”
Nominations can be submitted online at www.countryside-alliance.org until 4 November, following which judging will take place. Winners will be crowned during a grand final to be held at the House of Lords in spring 2017.
