Monmouth MP David Davies has warned that the contractor responsible for dualling the A465 Heads of the Valleys road between Gilwern and Brynmawr is rapidly losing the support of the public.
Mr Davies spoke out after talking to residents and representatives in Gilwern at a meeting organised by local County Councillor Jane Pratt on Friday (3 November).
A range of complaints were made, the most prominent being the lack of notice for road closures, traffic restrictions, unclear signage and changes to the original plans for a footbridge.
There was also little confidence among those present that the contractors will be able to finish the work by spring 2019 as planned.
Mr Davies said: "This work is inevitably causing a great deal of inconvenience for local people and there is a responsibility on all involved to keep this to a minimum.
“If roads are going to be closed, then people deserve as much notice as possible. If there are going to be delays in completing the project, then once again people deserve to be told.
“I am going to contact Costain to ask for a meeting in order to pass on these complaints and to try and get some clarity as to when all of this will be finished."
