The big issue of the day seems to be transgender rights. Equalities Minister Justine Greening has announced proposals to allow people to change their legal gender without any medical intervention. A consultation on reforming the 2004 Gender Recognition Act will begin in the autumn.
The past few weeks have seen atrocious crimes committed on British soil. Pedestrians and a police officer murdered by an Islamist terrorist in Westminster, and a young Kurdish Iranian asylum seeker almost beaten to death by a baying mob in Croydon.
2017 will mark some notable historic anniversaries. We can all celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Second Reform Act which doubled the number of people who could vote and brought working class voters into the polling booths for the first time.
First Minister Carwyn Jones visited Downing Street on Monday. Apparently, he was in Westminster to tell Theresa May what terms he would accept for Britain’s departure from the Europe Union and to demand a vote on the final Brexit deal.

The brutal murder of Jo Cox MP has horrified us all. She was clearly a rising parliamentary star and will be terribly missed. It is hard to find words to convey the shock that everybody feels on hearing news like this.
