Monmouth MP David Davies is reminding local communities to get nominating for the 11th annual Countryside Alliance Awards.
Nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars’, the awards are the chance for the countryside to make its voice heard on a national stage. They celebrate people going the extra mile to ensure that rural Britain’s food and farming industry, small businesses, traditional skills, and forward-thinking enterprises can flourish.
Mr Davies said: “These awards are an excellent way to promote the local businessmen and women who are working hard to keep rural Britain thriving.
“Our local produce here in Monmouthshire is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition, so please get involved and nominate today. Let’s see if we can bring a British title home.”
The awards run across four categories: Local food award, village shop/Post Office award, butcher award, and rural tourism enterprise award.
Nominations are open online at www.countrysideallianceawards.co.uk until 2 November 2015. Regional winners will be announced in February 2016 and a grand final, where national winners are declared, will be held in Parliament in April 2016.
