David Davies MP and Nick Ramsay AM visited Royal Mail's Monmouth delivery office today to see first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post and to pass on season’s greetings to hardworking staff.
The local politicians were shown around the delivery office by manager Matthew Morgan and were introduced to the postmen and women who are pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail over the busy festive period.
As Royal Mail's 500th anniversary draws to a close, this Christmas provides a special opportunity to reflect on the centuries of hard work delivering to every single address in the UK.
Mr Davies said: “I would like to thank the postal workers for the lengths they go to ensure all these presents are safely delivered – and that’s even before they start on the cards!"
Mr Ramsay added: “And let’s not forget the excellent year-round service we receive from our postmen and women in all weathers.”
Monmouth delivery office manager Matthew Morgan said: "It was a pleasure to show David and Nick our Christmas operation and to hear their kind words of encouragement and support.
“We are extremely proud of our postmen and women for all their hard work during the festive season and for continuing our proud history of delivering Christmas mail.”
